Welcome to the website for First Baptist Church of Shawneetown, Illinois. First Baptist has had a ministry in Shawneetown since 1930. We are a Southern Baptist Church affiliated with Saline Baptist Association, Illinois Baptist Association, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
We prefer to think of ourselves as a spiritual family and hope that we reflect that through our small group Bible study as well as our times of worship. It is our prayerful concern that we will live up to our sign in front of our church building which reads “Known by their love.”
We seek to be a Great Commission Church following the command of our risen Savior Jesus Christ to reach our community and our world with the Gospel. We believe this Gospel proclaims that the Lord Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead, has ascended to the right hand of the Father, and is coming back one day to take every true believer home with Him to heaven.
We would love to have you join us in Bible study and worship so that we might be able to get to know you in person. Give us an opportunity to express the love of Christ to you!
